Chocolate or Vanilla?

It’s according if I’m going to eat banana pudding or chocolate pie.

At Christmas time every year our family would make out a menu for the Christmas Dinner. Ham was and still is the first on the list. Next we decided on the vegetables for our menu, which always had potatoes salad, creamed potatoes, green beans, sweet potatoes, macaroni, and a big bowl of lettuce with diced tomatoes, cucumbers, and green onions tossed with mayonnaise. We creamed the potatoes and made macaroni which was made especially for the little ones with no teeth. Then came the bread….homemade fresh, hot rolls. The grand children always put their order in for “Mama’s Chocolate Pie”.  Actually extras were made because everyone wanted to take home the extra!

Everything Happens for a Reason: by Dream

Once my little girl….now my beautiful Daughter

One day, as the children were playing in the living room and really enjoying themselves, all of a sudden my least little one stopped and crawled upon the sofa and lay down. When I checked on her she felt very warm. I told my husband about her. Check her temperature and I will be right there as soon as I finish my shower, “he replied.” When I took her temperature and looked, it was 105 degrees. My husband and I had prayer with her and immediately the temperature started dropping. In our prayer we called out to God. I ask Him not to take my little girl away from us. He heard our prayer and showed mercy on us.

The next day, as I was doing my work in the kitchen, a truck pulled up and someone came to the door and ask for my husband. I told him he wasn’t at home right now but I was expecting him soon. I ask if he and his wife wanted to come in and he said they would just wait. After a while, he came to the door and told me he needed to see my husband about a grave lot. He proceeded to tell me that his grandchild had suddenly died and someone had told him that my husband took care of selling the grave lots at the church.

After hearing this, I knew just why my little one had such a high fever the very night before. My heart sank within me as I pondered the thought of my little one with her limpness, lifeless state just the night before. How I cried, and prayed out to God begging him not to let her die. I was almost speechless. Trying to retain myself, I asked that he and his wife come in. I offered them something to eat and something to drink. Then I sat down and listened to the woman as she told her story of the unexpected death of her grandchild.

God prepared us for every situation. In this case, He prepared my heart for this grieving woman.

I am so thankful to God for his great love and mercy toward us. There is not a friend like Jesus! I am reminded of a song that goes like this:

1.There is not a friend like Jesus, In the trying scenes of life,
He can hear the heart’s faint whisper, Calm the tempest’s raging strife.
2.There is not a friend like Jesus; bid the scoffing world a-dieu;
For if you’re ashamed of Jesus He will be ashamed of you. 3.There is not a friend like Jesus; Trust him ev-‘rywhere go; He has trod the way before you, Suffered ev-‘ry pain and woe. 4.There is not a friend like Jesus; When you draw your life’s last breath If you’ll be his friend while living, He will be your friend in death. 5.There is not a friend like Jesus; What a bless-ed tho’t to be        Fold-ed in His arms of pow-er ever in e-ter-ni-ty!

Chorus

There is not a friend like Jesus, Patient, tender, kind and true; If you’ll be a friend of Jesus, He will be a friend to you.-ty!

Best Pizza Ever

I've tried lots of pizzas, from thick, thin, big, little, hard, soft, done, doughy, burnt, etc.

When you are busy and need a fast pizza, we like Dominoes. While out shopping we buy other kinds and eat them on the go.

But the best pizza I've ever ate… comes straight from the kitchen.

We first of all prepare the dough and have it set to the side. Then we cut up the onions and peppers and ..any other topping we want to go on the pizzas. We now need a nice big clean area to work on, After deciding the kind or kinds of pizza/s we want to make, we prepare the other ingredients such as sausage, ground beef, pineapples, etc, I like to scramble the sausage and the ground beef and set it aside to sprinlke as a topping or have the pepperonies on hand.

When it is time to start the pizzas, preheat the oven . Next, sprinkle the cornmeal over a large area and place your dough ball in the center. Start by pressing around the outer edge of the ball moving as you go around toward the center of the dough. Make sure you do not press the outer rim. Now pick up the flattened dough and place your two fists on the underside and stretch outward as you move around the dough til it becomes the size needed. Place it on a pizza pan and spread a thin layer of sauce over the dough Then sprinkle a light layer of cheese followed by your other toppings. Last, sprinkle a medium to heavy layer of cheese. Bake in a well heated oven. Slice and serve.

As years go by!

Sorry to see this tree or any part of it come down. This tree has given us lots of memories. Women in the family use to come and bring their laundry to this tree and use the water from the well in the yard that supplied several families close by. Mainly the Presley's, since the area was known as Presley Hollow. This part of the farm was once owned by George Presley Sr. and later four and a half acres and a very small house was given to the Great Grand Father of Shawn Presley, to raise his family there. Later, it was added to while he owned it. In later years after his death, it was bought by Larry Presley. A few years later, it was bought by my husband (which is the grandson of George Presley Sr. and the son of George Presley Jr.) and I to raise our family there. Many precious memories and good times were spent there!

The first rememberance of the tree for our family was when we bought our first cow and she had the pink eye. We built her a corral around the tree and we doctored her eye there until it was well. She was then moved out to the field. Later it was shade for our sheep after they had grazed in th field as the day grew hot they would lay to rest in under. It was also a nice, cool place to go while husking the corn after gathering 50 dozen at a time and getting hot in the corn field.

I especially remember the swing hanging from the great strong limbs of this tree, and our children, and the children of the neighborhood taking turns swinging for great periods of time.

In the spring, I love watching the wet weather branch as it flows by this grand old tree as it grows taller and mightier.

Yes, lots of memories flash through my mind both of what I have seen with my eyes, and memories of other family members from this tree of many, many years, that can never be replaced of the Presley Family generations

A Photo That Puts a Smile on my Face

WHATSOEVER THINGS ARE LOVELY THINK ON THESE THINGS

Memories that are good memories are always treasured. You can be just sitting around, working in the kitchen, in the garden, taking a walk, or most anything when a memory pop up in your head and spontaneously a smile breaks out on your face.

These kind of memories brings you that warm feeling and deep satisfaction of the good part of your life. When trouble in boiling, or you are just plain tired, or sick, or no matter what your disposition is in your body, thinking of good memories has a way of cheering you up.

No wonder the scripture say: Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

Philippians 4:8

The next time you are down and out with all the situations around you, some of which you can never change if you tried, and other maybe not as bad as they seem, start doing as the Apostle said in Philippians. Think on the good things. Things that has happened in your own personal life, the life of your friend or friends, or history. Whatsoever things that are lovely…. "THINK ON THESE THINGS"
